The GT Open back in Hockenheim!
The International GT Open is back to the Hockenheimring on the weekend of 12th May, five years after its last visit. This is certainly good news for the many GT fans in Germany but also for teams and drivers, who love the legendary track in Baden-Württemberg.
Over the years, the International GT Open has become one of the best GT3 championships in Europe, offering the best platform for Pro-Am racing and the highest performance level in GT3 racing. Created in 2006 by GT Sport, the Madrid-based company of former sportscar and GT driver Jesús Pareja, the series has grown steadily and has proven very successful with teams and drivers from all over the world. Its calendar includes eight of the most prestigious F.1-graded tracks in Europe, the format (2 races of 70 and 50 minutes respectively in standard events, a single Endurance of 240 minutes in Spa and Monza) guarantees exciting action, and the friendly atmosphere in the paddock is also one of the most appreciated features of the series.
The 2024 season presents itself as a stellar one: it has attracted around 35 full-season contenders, with all the great GT brands (Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, McLaren, etc) represented and some of the greatest GT3 teams and drivers being part of the field, divided into three classes (Pro, Pro-Am and Am). Germany is very well represented, with well-known teams such as GetSpeed Performance, Team Motopark, SPS automotive performance, and Car Collection to name just a few.
The rich race program at the Hockenheimring will also include the junior GT series by GT Sport, the GT Cup Europe, two major single-seater series such as the Euroformula Open and the F. Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), and the spectacular mono-brand Clio Cup Europe.
Don’t miss the great show!
